GAITS Sierra Vista Employee Supports Local Community

GAITS employee Ross Romeo with U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, 8th US District
Sierra Vista, AZ, August 2007 - Global Analytic Information Technology Services (GAITS), a VA based SI and
IT Services Firm, announced today that one of its employees serving from its Sierra Vista office has been
recognized by U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and Fort Huachuca Garrison Commander Colonel Mellissa Sturgeon
for outstanding support in working to keep the Fort Huachuca West Gate open until September 2008.
Keith E. Eastin, the Assistant Secretary of the Army, informed Giffords of the decision to keep the
gate open in a recent letter. He wrote that a study prepared by the Army Installation Management
Command (USAIMCOM) found that "justification exists" to keep the gate open and
that "the situation at Fort Huachuca is without parallel at any other Army installation."
GAITS employee, Ross Romeo was instrumental in working with the local communities located in Cochise
and Santa Cruz Counties, the Fort Huachuca Garrison Commander as well as Congresswoman Giffords to
identify the issue and seek a solution lasting until FY 2009. Romeo organized and led a series of
community “Town Hall” meetings with residents as well as government officials in Santa Cruz and Cochise
counties aided by Congresswoman Giffords, a member of the House Armed Services Committee.
"This is a very good day for the residents of Sonoita, Elgin and Canelo who depend on the West Gate,"
the Tucson lawmaker said. "The Army made the right decision for the residents of those rural communities
and for Fort Huachuca."
